Stupid Weather

For any of you who has ever lived in Chicago or visited here, you would know the weather changes its moods like a teenage girl.  Yes, I did just say that and I’m not look forward to The Daughter’s teenage years.  The weather here is so strange sometimes.  Last week it was almost 100F and than it dropped to 60F a couple of days later.  Every time this happens, I get sick.  So I have been battling a cold all week.  I don’t know about you but I crave soup when I’m sick, especially with noodles.  I figured it was time to me to overcome one of my misadventures - Homemade Pasta – and make some soup.  I decided to tackle The Mother’s recipe this time.  This has got to be the easiest noodle recipe ever.  It is pretty much at 1-2-3 ratio.

Fresh Noodles
(Adapted by The Mother)
2 Cups of Flour
1 Egg
1/2 Cup of Water
  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Make a ball and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes
  3. Roll out the dough to the desired thickness.
  4. Slice into strips and let it dry over night.
I just took the noodles and cook it in a chicken broth with some sugar snap peas, mushrooms, and chicken breast.
I had more pictures but my computer decided to eat them.
How I wish I could breath.  Maybe tomorrow or maybe I’ll just look for some Pho.  What do you crave when you are sick?

  1. Thank you for your moms recipe looks amazing feel better there soon!

  2. I haven’t been sick sick for years, but when it happens I don’t crave anything at all. However I do have a cold once a while and when that happens I found that pomegranate juice helps. Maybe it works for you as well. Just have a class or 2 ever day and you’ll feel better in no time. Take care!

  3. Garlic. Smother everything with it and you'll feel better in no time. The noodles look yummy and you're right! I was so stuffed from the dim sum that I completely forgot to give you ice cream!

  4. I'm so sorry to hear you've been unwell, but your fresh pasta chicken noodles looks like the perfect antidote!

  5. Joy, sorry to hear about you feeling under the weather.
Do pamper yourself with some more fresh homemade pasta soup.
    Get well!

  6. So cool you can make this without a pasta press!
    Hope you feel better soon...

  7. It tastes so good when pasta is made fresh at home. Love a bowl of delicious soul warming noodle soup.

  8. Hope you're feeling better.
The soup looks soooo delicious and extra special with homemade noodles.:)
