Peace out Chicago, Hello San Jose

Hey Stranger.
Long time, no post. There is a good reason for it. Right after the craziness of work started to settle down, we found out we were moving. The Husband got transferred for work to the sunny state of California. San Jose to be exact. My house is a mess with unknown locations for some of my possessions like our clothes or even a pen. We found out the 2nd week of March but we were not certain when myself and the kids would be moving there. We just knew The husband has to be there by May 1st. Shortly after, we found out our closing was set to the end of April or the beginning of May. That answered my question. I am flying out with the kids May 2nd.

As soon as we found out, I was off and running to figure out

1. What I was keeping to move with us - I was restricted to the amount of stuff, especially my baking pans.
2. Where will I work (I can’t stay home, I will go nuts).
3. Where we would live

Fun stuff huh? I was able to reduce the amount of stuff we are bring by ⅔ and luckily in the last second and I mean yesterday, I was able to get a new job. Now the home..maybe I’ll just mooch off The Parents for a while :D.

We are so excited and scared at the same time. We have been so busy, it just hit me that I’m moving out of my home state. I have lived here my WHOLE LIFE.

One thing everybody asked me was what I would miss the most. Other than our friends and family, my next thought was the food.

My friend Anna held a little party for us and all of our friends brought food from different parts of Chicago that we may miss like chicken wings from Buffalo Joes, fried chicken from Harrolds, pizza from Pequod pizza, roast beef combos from Portillos, ribs from Russells Barbecue, garlic rolls and ube pie from Bob Chinns, and pastries from Lutz. We looked at the table and realized everything was fried meat minus the pizza and pastries :D. I would have some pictures but really, it was all brown food.

I know I keep saying this but I really hope I catch up on life and actually get to blog more often. One day..One day.

  1. I love reading your blog, and this one was extra exciting. I am a resident of San Jose, CA, and I just want you to know that it is a wonderful place to live and there are many wonderful places to eat. I look forward to hearing about your adventures in the Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.

  2. I hope you like it there! My brother lives in the Chicago area, and I used to live in Palo Alto and Santa Cruz, near San Jose
and also have family in the area. The two cities are totally different, but I think you're going to like it! Especially the weather. And the availability of fresh produce is like no other there. Looking forward to hearing about your new life there!

    1. I hope so, I love Chicago. It will always be home but we couldn't take the winter anymore. It also helps that my family is out there.
