How do you Organize Your Recipes?

Do you ever feel that your to-do list becomes longer each day?  That is how I feel like lately.  I get one thing done and I have something else to do.  One of the main tasks I wanted to tackle is to  organize my recipes.  I have them in multiple places.  I first had a binder which soon got filled quickly, than I figured that if I put it in my Google docs I could access it quickly.  There are times I email recipes or ideas.  With so many places, recipes get forgotten quickly.  Some of the recipes I know are only know in my memory.  I know that method is going to bite me back one day.

I recently read an article on how chefs even debates on the best way to organize their recipes.  Read the article here.  In the article, there was four websites to use: Kitchenmonki.com, bigoven.com, bakespace.com, and Saymmm.com.  Has anybody use these?
Any suggestions?

  1. Joy, am like you...my recipes (printed out and hand written) are all over the place. I also got a folder full of ripped pages of magazines dating back from when I was still 15 years old. You have to start writing the ones from ur memory..trust me=) Just doing everyday chores, makes days seems so short....I also have to get my act together=)

  2. Same problem here...but I don't worry about it. I find the worst is to store them online as I usually forget about them.

  4. So strange, I posted about this a little while ago. I just can't seem to remember where I saw one recipe and then even remember that I saw it in the first place!

  5. I use a list on Google Docs of recipes I want to make - otherwise my organization is totally out of hand. That's one of the reasons I started blogging to have them all in one place.

  6. What is organization? LOL. Thanks for reminding me to start organizing my recipes once more. A year ago I used Cute PDF when I was thinking of writing a simple cookbook (quickly abandoned because it's tedious).

I haven't tried using any of those sites but will read the article.:)

  7. I have such a mishmosh of recipes, some hand-written from family and friends, others printed, others torn from magazines... I really need to figure out a way to organize them. Right now they're all in a drawer in the kitchen, but it's running out of room... I'm thinking of creating a binder. My friend got me an electronic recipe organizer for Hanukkah last year, but inputting all of the recipes electronically seems like more trouble than it's worth... let me know if you come up with a great solution, I'd love to hear about it!
